Dong Gong

I am continually looking for highly-motivated PhD, MPhil, visiting students, and Research Assistants with a strong research background and passion for working on computer vision and machine learning. If you are interested in working with me, please email me your interests and background (including your CV and transcripts).

Prospective PhD students:

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in doing research with me. There are various scholarships from the university and some pure research projects available for talented PhD applicants. More detailed information about the application can be in the HDR Application Process page, where the information is also suitable for MPhil applicants.

  • There are usually 3 rounds of applications per year (see details by checking Application Deadlines on the page).

  • English language requirements are mandatory.

  • UNSW-CSC Scholarship for PhD students is supported. The official due for the application at UNSW side is usually in September (check the Application Deadlines on the page). If you are interested, please contact me as early as possible.

  • Don't panic if you miss a specific deadline of the university (for any scholarship application round, including UNSW-CSC scholarship). Please feel free to contact me. It can be possible to make an out-of-round application.

  • Please contact me before making a submission.

UNSW undergraduate and Master students:

  • I usually supervise a limited number of students on their Honours or Master (coursework) thesis each year. If you are interested in working with me, please email me with your transcript and CV and contact as early as possible.

  • Some project topics can be found in the TMS. It is not a complete list. Please feel free to propose other projects relevant to my research topics.

  • I may supervise undergraduate students under the UNSW Taste of Research (ToR) program if I have funding.

  • You should be self-motivated and have either good WAM, strong (Python) programming skills, or solid research experience. Please reflect them in your email.

Visiting scholars:

  • I may host visiting scholars (including PhD students) whose research area is overlapped with ours, assuming you have external funding support. The process should follow the university's application process and related policies (e.g., limited positions, etc)
